Chelsea are set to agree a loan deal with German club Werder Bremen for Kevin de Bruyne.

The 21-year old Belgian winger joined the Blues from Genk in January but spent the remainder of the season on loan with his former club.

Now it appears that Chelsea want to further his development in a first team environment with a loan to Werder Bremen set to be completed soon.

“I can confirm that. We are to work out a loan switch,” Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs told Kicker.

“We have had many discussions and some talks lately and I feel we are at an advanced level regarding this loan deal.”

Former Premier League striker Dwight Yorke admits he would love to get involved in the management side of the game.

The 40-year old ex-Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland man is currently completing his coaching badges and has revealed that he one day wants to step into a manager’s role but only if it is the right one for him.

“I’m trying to have a crack at management. For me it’s one opportunity that could happen but if it doesn’t I’m happy to walk away,” he told tribalfootball.com.

“I will stick around (in the coaching game) provided I got the right backing and it’s not about what Dwight Yorke wants, it’s about the people in charge of a football club and if they give you an opportunity.

“I know that no matter how much knowledge and know-how, everything you’ve gained over the years, if someone doesn’t want to give you a chance then there’s no point. I’m hoping that one opportunity comesalong and I can prove that I can manage players and what players expect.”

He added: “Sir Alex Ferguson has been very gracious in letting me come back there (to United) and try to complete my coaching badges.”

WOMEN’S OLYMPIC FOOTBALL Group E: Great Britain begin games with victory over New Zealand | Premiership News | Tribal Football

Great Britain began the first events of the London Olympics with a narrow 1-0 win over New Zealand at the Millennium Stadium.

Great Britain began the first events of the London Olympics with a narrow 1-0 win over New Zealand at the Millennium Stadium.

The hosts were made to work hard for their win as New Zealand defended well but still Hope Powell’s team were wasteful in front of goal until Steph Houghton scored the only goal of the game direct from a free kick in the second-half.

Britain had started the game nervously in the heat and humidity of Cardiff and only began to settle after the half-hour mark when they began to create and miss chances.

Little changed after the break until Houghton curled a 25 yard free kick past Kiwi’s keeper Jenny Bindon.

New Zealand then pushed forward in search of an equaliser and had the perfect chance moments later. A mix up between two Team GB defenders allowed Sarah Gregorius a clear run on goal but her weak shot was easily saved by Karen Bardsley.

For all the visitor’s pressure Britain comfortably held out until the closing minutes when Bardsley was forced to tip over an Amber Hearn effort.

Referee: Kari Seitz (USA)

Venue: Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

Attendance: 38,000

WOMEN’S OLYMPIC FOOTBALL Group G: USA stun France with stirring fightback | MLS News | Tribal Football

Tournament favourites USA shrugged off conceding two early goals to storm back for a 4-2 success over France in their opening group game at the London Olympics.

Tournament favourites USA shrugged off conceding two early goals to storm back for a 4-2 success over France in their opening group game at the London Olympics.

Group games at major tournaments are meant to be cagey affairs but not this open encounter as France raced into a two goal lead inside the first 15 minutes with strikes from Thiney and Delie.

But the USA wasted little time in finding their form and quickly restored parity by the 32nd minute, a Wambach header and Morgan inflicting the damage.

The US continued to press after the break as France lost their momentum and duly claimed two more goals as Morgan completed a brace and Lloyd found the net.

The US easily played out time and sent out a warning to other teams over their form after disposing of a dangerous looking French outfit.

Referee: Sachiko Yamagishi

Venue: Hampden Park, Glasgow

Attendance:

USA scorers: Wambach 19, Morgan 32, 66, Lloyd 56,
France scorers: Thiney 12, Delie 14
